In The Know

The new and improved ‘In The Know’ messaging service

We wanted to thank you for being part of the Lancashire Police In The Know messaging service and to let you know about some planned improvements to the service.

Lancashire Constabulary is committed to involving the community in the policing of Lancashire. We believe that by improving the flow of information between the community and its police we can all make a greater impact in the prevention and detection of crime and anti-social behaviour and make our communities safer.

From next Monday 22 September we will be updating our service to improve how we do this.

You will still receive crime updates and information about the areas you are interested in, but from Monday there will be additional features that you can make use of:

From Monday you will be able to:

• Rate the messages you receive – letting us know what you think about the content, relevance and quality of the messages.

• Share messages received by email easily with friends and family.

• Reply to emails and text messages with information you may have on appeals or concerns you would like to raise. Your replies will go straight back to the officer who sent out the message to respond.

• An online account where you will have the option to easily manage your preferences such as what interests you receive information about.

We hope that you will find these new features helpful and that together we can grow the In The Know messaging service network so that more people can benefit from receiving messages about their local area, in a way that suits their needs and lifestyle, whether by email, text or telephone.

Please note that if you are registered to receive emails, these will now come from the following address alert@neighbourhoodalert.co.uk and text messages will come from 07860 031 251. The new email address and text number are legitimate and are a trusted source. If you can, although it is not essential, please add this email address to your contact list to avoid emails going into your spam folder. To find out how to do this, please click here.

The messaging service is completely free to be part of, as it always has been and you will be able to respond by email at no cost. However, if you choose to reply to messages by text then please be aware that your standard network charges will apply.

You don’t need to do anything to start benefiting from the new service; you will be moved over automatically. But if you no longer want to be part of In The Know you will be provided with a link to unsubscribe from the service on Monday with one click of the button.

Please note: This service is not monitored out of office hours and is not for reporting crimes or incidents. To report these please contact Lancashire Police on 101.
